How does the Tulik swaddle work?
A
very simple idea from Dr. Harvey Karp, an author of several books on putting babies to sleep – and the “5 S’s” technique which is the best method for lulling newborn babies and infants to sleep at any time regardless of its mood.
After many years of research into colic and baby sleep deprivation, dr. Harvey Karp proved that babies are born three months too early. This so-called ‘fourth trimester’, i.e. the first three months after birth, is the time which the baby should spend in the womb. However, the human brain, which is of unprecedented nature and much more developed than that of animals, does not allow babies to stay in the womb for so long. A 12-month-old baby, while passing through the birth canal, could pose a risk to Mother’s health and life.
Dr. Harvey Karp names the fourth trimester baby ‘fetus ex utero’, a Latin term for ‘a fetus outside the uterus’. According to his proven hypothesis, colic, adaptation issues, infantile reflexes (i.a. the Moro reflex), that last 3 months after birth, are the consequences of naturally accelerated maturation on the ‘wrong’ side.

Tulik cares about your baby's safety
The technique of wrapping babies has been practiced for millennia all over the world. However, when used incorrectly, it may pose a serious risk to the child: in particular, the occurrence of hip dysplasia, overheating or even suffocation with loose fabric. Under no circumstances, should you wrap your baby tightly with a blanket, sleeping bag or diaper – also, do not use swaddles that are not made of elastic fabric, because they do not protect baby’s face from the zipper and are not reliable.
